PROJECT OVERVIEW
Turn the forest into an ally against wildfire
NIGAL takes part in SILVO+ alongside ENCE and Tenzas Xestión Forestal: an innovative project for active wildfire prevention and ecosystem-service valuation through sustainable silvopasture models. NIGAL contributes its expertise in digitalisation, technology integration and intelligent data analysis.
Active wildfire prevention
We replace mechanical clearing with directed grazing on protection strips. Lower costs, less waste and continuous control of vegetation fuel.
AI-driven silvopasture models
Algorithms combining biomass, livestock type, soil, climate and wildfire history to optimise rotations, stocking rates and strip cleaning.
Certified ecosystem services
Methodology audited by an independent third party (FSC ES, SD VISta Nature…) for carbon capture, biodiversity and soil improvement. Real, not cosmetic, ESG.

Virtual fences, GPS collars and plug&play mobile infrastructure (water, shelter, feed) to manage flocks without physical fences.
ES methodology & certification
Definition and validation of an independent certification scheme that quantifies impact on carbon, biodiversity and soils.
Digital platform for ES
Two-sided: companies (CSRD/NFRD compliance and ESG reporting) and citizens (animal sponsorship and active participation in the territory).
CONSORTIUM
Three entities, one mission
TENZAS coordinates and brings forestry and certification expertise; NIGAL leads technology development and the digital platform; ENCE contributes sustainable forest management know-how.
TENZAS — Forestry coordination & certification
Forestry consultancy with over a decade advising 156 commons forests (CMVMC). Silvopasture model design, FSC/PEFC certification and institutional liaison.
NIGAL — Technology & platform
Data science and software engineering team. AI modelling, platform architecture and integration of geospatial, meteorological and sensor data.
ENCE — Energy & Cellulose
Technical support on sustainability and forest management, collaboration on field pilots and contribution to dissemination and industrial-scale adoption.
SCIENTIFIC & TRANSFER PARTNERS
Backed by USC and FEUGA
Beyond the core consortium, SILVO+ relies on scientific-technical and transfer support from two reference institutions in Galicia.
USC — Scientific-technical support
The University of Santiago de Compostela provides methodological and applied research support, especially from its Lugo Campus, host of the official launch event.
FEUGA — Transfer and dissemination
The Galician University-Business Foundation coordinates transfer, dissemination and communication of project results to the productive sector.

Officially presented at the USC EPSE in Lugo
On 21 April 2026 SILVO+ was presented at the Higher Polytechnic School of Engineering (Lugo Campus, University of Santiago de Compostela), bringing together institutional representatives, forestry and livestock entities and the project's research team.

WP1 kick-off under way (M1 — M6)
SILVO+ has just started its technical execution. With the Nexos 2025 call awarded and the consortium active, we are in the first months of WP1: drafting technical, ethical and environmental protocols, harmonising the forest base map and selecting the pilot plots where the whole model will be validated.

The timeline combines parallel work on technology, field and certification, with verifiable milestones in each phase. SILVO+ is now kicking off WP1: the Nexos 2025 call has been awarded, the consortium is active and work is under way on protocols, the forest base map and pilot-plot selection.

Definition of indicators and sampling protocols for carbon, biodiversity and soils. Selection of voluntary certification scheme and independent pilot audit. TENZAS leads.

Two-sided digital platform — companies (CSRD/NFRD) and citizens (sponsorship). Backend, frontend, metrics integration, security and real-user testing. NIGAL leads.
TransversalWP5 · Validation, dissemination & scale-up (M1 — M36)
Final integrated dataset, technical-scientific report, socioeconomic evaluation and policy recommendations. Communication and transfer plan coordinated with FEUGA.
CURRENT STATUS
Project kicking off: WP1 in execution
SILVO+ has officially started its execution after being awarded the Nexos 2025 call of the Galician Innovation Agency. WP1 is under way: we are defining protocols, harmonising the forest base map and selecting pilot plots to validate AI-assisted silvopasture.

Two sides, one territory
The SILVO+ ecosystem-services platform connects companies with non-financial reporting obligations and citizens with the Galician forest through sponsorship.
Companies · CSRD / NFRD
Metrics panel, auditable evidence and report export to meet the European non-financial reporting directive and communicate CSR with verifiable data.
Citizens · Sponsorship
People sponsor flock animals and take part in the active conservation of the territory. Full traceability, periodic updates and a real bond with Galicia.
